I text him alot befor?

i texted this guy for like a week that i liked but he only texted m twice first i mean we talked alot whn we text it was boring or anything but i just didnt like the feeling of always text him so i stop texting him for 4 weeks and just recently he texted me and said "you havent texted me in like a year" what does he mean by that does he want me to text him? i said later that i would text him more often but i dont wanna text him first.
