Grill won't ignite!?

I left my gas grill outside (covered) for the winter. I uncovered it and tried to light it today, but it won't ignite. The gas definitely comes on, because I can smell it, but when I push the ignitor on it won't even give me the little clicks like it normally does. I tried replacing the battery and I made sure it was still properly connected. Neither of these fixed it. Any suggestions?
