What is this on my cat's ear?

OK so i saw something similar on a tv vet program thingy and its like dirt and hair and stuff in it and you have to bring him to the vet and they get all the stuff out, clean it and close it to make sure it don't keep coming back. i really cant remember what it is called but best bet is to go too the vet and they can do that x
