Was the media doing the right thing by releasing the VT shooter's videos?

I honestly don't know what to think about this yet. Seeing any footage from the VT macre really upsets me - but when they recently let out the videos/pics of the shooter (I will not use his name, he is sub-human to me) - I just don't know if that was the right thing to do? Do you think that releasing it makes the shooter 'win' by now being able to tell the mes why he did it or should the public know how much of a psychotic, cowardly runt this person was (in a way, showing us what to look for in a potential killer)? I just don't know what to think, sorry for the rambling. My heart is absolutely breaking for the Hokies.
