French words masculine or feminine?

uff man why french have to make everything between masculine and feminine..like starting from countries name.like i am studying french at alliance fraincais i have got xam after 2 days..as far i know if any nouns ends with an E is feminine ..but there are also exceptions in some names..uff well can any 1 name me a good site.although got a good encyclopedia but its 8 gb.and will take atleast 4 days .so dont have any time now.. ..
