Are Repubs smarter than Paul Krugman, Nobel prize winning economist?

Krugman seems to support both the President's stimulus and health care bills, not because of the human and moral element, but on fiscal grounds. Joe Sixpack, Sarah Palin and the rest of the, let's just say "challenged" folk in the Repub party claim these bills are not sound policy because of the economics. Who should we rely on? Maybe Sarah and Joe are just spouting the party line because they are incapable of figuring this out on their own? And the party line is sponsered by big insurance and big business?
